Coming Down........

The concert took place at The Admiral Palast in Freidrichstraße. Pretty central. And it was sold out. It was clearly an emotional last night on the German leg of the tour. And it was Berlin. And May 1st was a public holiday and it was hot in the evening and the streets were alive.
I'm a real newcomer to TD but I had expectations nonetheless. But, nothing prepared me for this evening. 9/10.
The current line-up is;
Thorsten Quasching
Hoshiko Yamane
Paul Frick

This concert was musically incredible and the 150+ minutes flew by. And not just a concert but also a show; the lighting and the visuals played a huge part in the overall experience.
The sound was world class and sitting luckily one third back and in the middle I got the best of it.
I was fortunate enough to be sitting next to a TD expert who explained what I was hearing.
But what did not need explaining was the quality.
Thorsten Quasching's introduction promised improvisation in real time but if any of this was made up then we are in the presence of genius.
My TD expert has seen the band many times since 1981 and the next day concluded: 'In hindsight it was a privelege to see TD in such an iconic venue. Quashing is an absolute master, technically better than the original TD members. To experience those huge sounds was amazing'.
Me? I'm playing Quichotte from 1981 at The Palast der Republik in the GDR.
