Treasure Isle - Duke Reid's Legacy The True Story Of Ska, Rocksteady, Dub and Reggae

Duke Reid was not an altogether nice guy but his musical acumen was unquestionable. Back in the 60's he was at the forefront of Jamaican music along with Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd and Albert 'Prince' Buster. This wonderful French hardback book CD Set has four discs to delve into and is a prime example of a CD only release. Inside is an informative history of Reid and Treasure Isle.
NOTE: For further reading material try 'Bass Culture' by Lloyd Bradley or the much larger 'The Roots Of Rhythm Remain' by Joe Boyd
Cult Cargo: Belize City Boil Up

From The Numero Uno Group this lovingly put together various artists collection often finds it's way to the turntable. Obscure and utterly vibrant there are a couple of superb reworks here - Shame, Shame, Shame; Backstabbers; Theme From The Godfather (really, it's superb). 'Boil Up' is a traditional Belizean dish and this is a four sided mix of simmering sonic goodness. Raw, warm & funky this album is such essential stuff I bought the CD as well. Check out the Numero Uno catalogue!
Krautrock Eruption
An IntroductionTo German Electronic Music 1970-1980

Arrived in the post today and added to The RTR Collection making it's way immediately to the K1 Ruby. The new book by Wolfgang Seidel 'Krautrock Eruption' is a great read for non-Germans like myself and helps to understand how and why all that Krautrock stuff came about. But, first study the discography of important records at the end. This CD is a sampler of that list with helpful notes. Nice.
Neil Young
Soundtrack: Coastal

Also arrived today; Neil has been with me a veeeery long time - we're talking a 16 year old in bedsit land in Bath, UK here. Over 53 years I've owned or listened to everything by Neil. On April 17th the film Coastal was screened one night only Worldwide and so I found myself in Kant Kino in Berlin; what a lovely cinema. The owners are so rightly proud of their building they gave a live introduction explaining the history of the venue. That's Berlin. Anyway, this is the soundtrack from the film and Neil is playing choice cuts solo on guitar, piano, organ. A true Artist.
